About this football manager simulator
GAFFER is a football management career game set in England. You take your first job at a real League One club, choose a formation, run the transfer market and try to survive long enough to reach the Championship, the Premier League and, at the very top, the Champions League.
Every run rolls a different era of the game, a different background for you and a rival manager who keeps winning while you are not looking. Clubs are real English sides; players, staff and rivals are fictional.
Tactics, dressing room and end of season
Your tactical identity — high press, positional possession, low block, direct counter-attack or dressing room first — changes the odds on every decision for the rest of the career. Morale, form and board patience move with each choice, and press conferences cost you what training gains.
At the end of every phase you play out the season: go for the throat, grind out points or manage the squad. You get promoted, you stay up, or you get sacked and drop a level. Stay stuck in League One with nothing to show and the career can end as early as the third season.
